Impress your friends and family by decorating your house with your very own handmade solid and blown glass ornaments. In this two day workshop you will work in a safe and supportive environment as the instructor guides you through the process of using an oxy-propane torch and borosilicate glass rods to help you create your very own one of a kind ornaments.
Focus will be given to making ornaments/window hangs/shade and fan pulls such as icicles, twists, snowflakes, animal shapes, angels, and hollow ornaments, etc. Participants will practice each shape first with clear glass then create with color as time allows.
Elizabeth Ryland Mears is a full time, award winning, studio artist. Her material of choice is glass. Mears uses the lexicon of Nature images to describe her relationship to her inner and outer worlds, and her sculpture often combines glass with mixed media. Her work is represented by galleries across the United States and is included in numerous private, public and museum collections, as well as, many publications focused on contemporary art glass. "Flameworking," written by Mears, was published in 2003 by LARK Books.
